I spotted this sign on a local church’s van a few weeks ago, as I was stopped at a traffic light. By the time I had pulled my cell phone out of its holster, the light had turned green and the van had vamoosed. I saw it again soon afterward, as I was walking in downtown Birmingham without a camera. Then, last week, I found myself driving behind it through Crestwood heading west. I decided that this third time was going to be my last opportunity, so I followed the van into Forest Park, balancing the BlackBerry on my dashboard while trying to snap a photo. It wasn’t working. To make matters more trying, the driver of the van must have sensed or seen me tailing him, and he hit the gas. The van disappeared into the neighborhood, down an alley. I circled an eight- to nine-block area, hoping to find it. After about ten minutes, I saw it parked behind an apartment building, unloading passengers. I parked quickly and ran down the alley, feeling – and, likely, looking – foolish, as I waved my arms in the air as a signal to the driver to stop.
All for a little quickie photograph.

You really did go to a lot of work to get this photo! Effort always pays off in the end…..
