[blu-ray]Instead of long hours with dozens of extras sitting in the make-up chair, director Winner employed real Tod Browning-style “Freaks” for the hellish ending. Then there’s a young Beverly D’Angelo pleasuring herself at the new neighbor during afternoon tea. And Chris Sarandon with a (literal) splitting headache. I saw this when it was released and, 40 years later, it still gives me the willies.
