The One-Year Anniversary Post (complete with cookie recipe)

November 28th, 2008 · No Comments

On the very first post at this blog site, on 28 November 2007, I teased.

I had just gone through the annual ritual of making my Mom’s Peanut Butter Kiss cookies, because she wasn’t around to make them herself.  As they were on my mind, and I needed to post something to begin the weblog, I posted someone else’s recipe and titled the post, “The secret recipe uses yellow cake mix.”

Over the ensuing twelve months, that post has been seen enough times through Google searches and the like that it is the #9 most-viewed page on this labyrinthine website.  That’s out of about 440 posts.  And every single person who has seen it has moved on without having that secret yellow cake mix cookie recipe to put to use.

As a “mea culpa,” I humbly post the secret recipe right here, right now.  It is delicious.  And there’s no bothersome sifting involved.

Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies

Ingredients:
1 box yellow cake mix
2 eggs
1/3 cup oil
¾ cup peanut butter
1 package Hershey’s chocolate Kisses

Preheat oven to 350°

Mix together cake mix, eggs and oil until mixture reaches brownie consistency.  Mix peanut butter into dough.  Drop balls of dough onto a lightly greased pan.  Place an unwrapped kiss in the center of each ball.

Bake 10 minutes or until lightly golden brown.  Remove and cool.  And, of course, eat.
