[Letter addressed to Cpl. Harry V. C., 33428766, 1409th A.A.F. Base Unit, European Div. A.F.B., A.P.O. – 741, c/o P.M., U.S. Army.  Return addressed to Mrs. Harry V. C., c/o Mrs. W., 20 Black Street, Dundee, Scotland.]

c/o Webster
20, Black Street,
Dundee,
Scotland,
13th. March 1945

To
My Own Wonderful Husband,

Here I am once again my darling, and to be exact, it is now fifteen minutes to three in the morning. I have been of duty to night since eleven, and I did my best to sleep. I lay there, just thinking and worrying about you. I was wondering if you were working, or if you were waken or sleeping. I was also praying darling, that nothing happens, so we can have that kid we both want very much, but darling I am scared. I have thought of everything, just things running through my mind, scared of what might happen. I cant help thinking things like I do. Oh my darling dont laugh at me when I say this, but I wish I had you with me right now, so I could have your shoulder to cry on. Then I might feel a bit better. Dont laugh, please dont.

Well darling I received another letter from you when I went home at four, so I have three letters to answer, so I think I will get started (smile)

No darling I haven’t had any letters from Kenny since you were here. I hope you told him I was asking for him (smile)

Anna I dont think will ever look at Taffy again. I wonder what would of happened if any thing had happened if Anna & Taffy got somebody considering the way they behaved. (smile)

Yes darling I belong to you and you belong to me, and if that son of ours comes, (smile) then he will belong to both of us.

Darling there will be no arguement between Timmy and I, because your mine ducks. (smile) I’m going to sit on your knee and whisper sweet nothings in your ear.

I think that is all I can answer to that letter my precious, so I will get on with the next.

Darling there is nothing happening up here in Dundee its stale (smile) without you.

Your were asking me how I am. Well right now I feel as if I could be nice and sick, and I haven’t ate anything that would make me sick, but I might be worse in the next eight months (smile)

Darling I hope that we dont get dissappointed now. Oh darling I pray every night. I would go through anything for you darling, because I love you so very much Harry.

There is only this dopey wife of yours that has any claim on you now. Jimmy has no claim at all. I am jealous darling (smile)

Yes my darling Alex is still here, and I think he is getting along all right, but of course you know he isnt in this crew I am is, he is in crew A I think.

Darling you say that you are thinking of me every second of the day. Well darling I am thinking of you every second also. I even think of you when I’m plotting (smile)

Well darling I think I have answered all that I can to that letter, so I will try to answer the one you wrote on the 9th inst.

Gee darling I’m so glad to here you got four letters from me that day, but I do hope you have had a lot more by the time you get this. I do hope you get them all, those I wrote to you. (smile)

Oh Harry my darling I am so happy to here that the three day passes have started again. Oh darling I hope it wont be long before you are up here. Oh my love it would be wonderful if you could be up here in less than two weeks, it will be lovely to have you holding me tight and kissing me. I wish you were holding me right now. I do pray that we are going to get that child darling that we are both wanting very much, wont it be lovely darling. You do want that kid dont you Harry, and somehow I think you will be a bit dissappointed, if it doesn’t try out the way we want it. Tell me honestly wont you darling, but I am really not very sure yet darling.

Darling I am going this letter very quickly, as I have had some work to do, so my darling I will say Cheerio and God Bless you darling, hoping to see you soon

Your loving & Lonely
Wife Mary
