An obviously noble effort, delivered on a platter of cheese. Harrison Ford steps out of his coma to display some acting ability.

Arch: Downtown Encinitas

August 18th, 2013 · No Comments

Encinitas Arch_081813_RESIZED

Encinitas is located about ten miles south of my hometown of Oceanside, in north San Diego County, California. This arch crosses over Coast Highway 101. I have driven under it countless times, as it was one of two alternate routes I would drive – other than major highway I-5 – going to or from high school in the 1970s.

From the Wikipedia page for Encinitas, California:

Encinitas is a coastal beach city in San Diego County, California. Located within Southern California, it is approximately 25 miles north of San Diego in North County and about 95 miles south of Los Angeles. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 59,518, up from 58,014 at the 2000 census. The largest single industry in the city is the growing of ornamental flowers, particularly poinsettias.

“Psalm” by Jack Kerouac (29 November 1948)

August 14th, 2013 · No Comments

from Windblown World: The Journals of Jack Kerouac 1947-1954:

Thank you, dear Lord, for the work You have given me, the which, barring angels on earth, I dedicate to Thee; and slave on it for Thee, and shape from chaos and nothingness in Thy name, and give my breath to it for Thee; thank you for the Visions Thou didst give me, for Thee; and all is for Thee; thank you, dear Lord, for a world and for Thee. Infold my heart in Thy warmth forever.

Thank you, Lord God of Hosts, Angel of the universe, King of Light and Maker of Darkness for Thy ways, the which, untrod, would make of men dumb dancers in flesh without pain, mind without soul, thumb without nerve and foot without dirt; thank you, O Lord, for small meeds of truth and warmth Thou hast poured into this willing vessel, and thank you for confusion, mistake, and Horror’s sadness, that breed in Thy name. Keep my flesh in Thee everlasting.
