Of course, there is always something that can go wrong, and my driver’s license expired on 9.1, so I was flagged as “SSSS” or “special screening.” It basically meant nothing more than being sent through a separate line and being paid extra special attention. That was OK by me.

Aud. and I finished up the ironing this a.m. and then took Betsy over to Lake Callahan and went biking around the lake – then over to Cedar Lake, and back again. It was loads of fun and am so glad Aud. enjoys that sort of thing.

After the show, we went over to Manuel’s Tavern. The place was filled with Democrats. Democrats! They had the CNN wrap-up of the Pennsylvania primary on the big TV screens. It felt like Cambridge, but it was Atlanta.

Harlem, Georgia (Everywhere a sign #11)

Passing back through Harlem, I kept a lookout for the museum. I stopped at the traffic light in the center of town. Ahead of me, on the right, I could see that there were still Christmas garlands hanging on the side of the police station. One of the taller brick buildings – two stories – had a graffiti-style collage of Stan and Ollie painted on its entire southern side. Three pairs of grinning faces kept watch over a fenced-in used car lot.
