Dearest Mary:

Just a few lines to let you know that I am well and miss you more all the time.

Darling, I received the package you sent me today and I hardly know how to thank you for everything.  The cakes were just fine and the sweater fit just perfect.  I can’t thank you enough now but wait till I come up there.  The pictures were all fine and the mirror was O.K.  Dearest, how are you getting along since I left you?  I hope you are well and feeling fine.  Let me know how every thing is when you answer this.  Darling, I hope you received the money I sent in the letter yesterday.  I am sending you some more in this one, Dearest, and I sure hope you get it for I know you can use it.

Dearest, I haven’t been looking for a place for you yet, but Mary Darling, I will look as soon as I can.  Oh Darling I only wish you were here with me tonight.  Dearest when I get up there with you again we will sleep in the other room.  You know the one I mean.  Where I slept once before with the small bed.  I can hold you in my arms Darling and I will try and catch up on the kisses you sent me.  Do you think I will be able to, Darling?

Dearest, what did the girls in the office have to say when Anna came back to work?  I bet you had some time, didn’t you Darling?

Today Hank received about fifteen letters from Betty.  They sure must of held them up some place.  Darling I sure hope I get the one that you send me a lot sooner for they mean every thing to me, Dearest.

Darling, the letter that I am answering now you said you was getting impatient for someone.  Dearest, when I see you again every thing will be alright if it is the way you want it for I feel the same way now.  Darling, I don’t have much to say tonight so this will have to be a short note.  The only thing that I can say is that I miss my Darling Wife more and more all the time and I hope and pray that it won’t be long till we can be together all the time, just the family and us.

Good Night Darling.
All My Love and lots of Kisses from Your Loving Lonely Husband
Harry.

My Darling Wife:

Just a few more lines to let you know Darling that I am well and miss you an awful lot.

Dearest, this is the last letter that I am going to write to you this year, and I am wishing you a very happy New Year.  Darling, I would give any thing to be with you tonight, so we could start the New Year together or something.

I received three letters from you today Darling, and a paper letting me know that your package is here in the post office for me to pick up so I will get it tomorrow.  Darling, why do you want to know if your letters are boring me?  You know Dearest, that you could never write such a letter to me.  I can hardly wait till I get one from you.  The last one I got today was wrote on the 26th so I guess it will be a week before I receive any more from you, my Dearest.  Darling, the way you said in your letter you must have had some time sleeping the 24th.  Dearest, was it any better the night I was with you?  Did you wake up any more with your arms around your Mother’s neck like she told me you did.  Boy, I would have been there to of seen you when you got awake.  I know how it feels to be thinking and dreaming about some one dear to you and wakin’ up and find them not there.  Oh Mary, I can not count the times that has happened to me.

Darling, you did not have to worry about Jimmie’s book keeping me from thinking of you did you Dearest?  Mary, there is nothing any where that could do that.  Well, I suppose that Anna and the other girls are having a time at the office now.  If they say any thing just tell them that they are jealous and you ask them if they wouldn’t like to be as lucky as you.

I got paid today, Mary Darling, and I got over 2.6 pounds, so I will send you some.  I am only going to send you a pound in this, but I will send you more some other time.  I was going to try ans save some for the three of us.  How soon so [you] think that will be!  But Darling, it will never be too soon for us, will it Dearest.  Darling, I am sorry I did get all the kisses when I was up there that you sent me but I will try and make up for it next time.  Do you think I can, Mary Dearest?

I will have to close this note for now, but I will write to you next year.

All my love and kisses
Your lonely Loving husband till I am with you
Harry

PS. I hope you get the pound in this letter.  Let me know if you do.

Dearest Mary.

I haven’t much to write about tonight for I am a little bit sleepy already.

I had a nice trip down here Darling.  Hank and I got in Edinburgh about 30 minutes before the train left for this direction.  Mary you should of seen the crowd waiting on it, but we hit it lucky.  One of the fellows that we started out with was in the front of the line so we just stepped in the line with him.  Then when we went to get on the train one of the boys that worked for the rail road ask us if we wanted a seat so we said yes.  He took our packs and as soon as the train stopped he jumped in ahead of the people and got us each a seat.  We each give him a shilling or two.  We only had to change two times to get here, and we had plenty of time.

Darling I sure hated to see you have to go back to work after I left, and Dearest you tell your boss that it had better be the last time that you have to work when I come up there.  Tell him that I said so if he says any thing, and if he don’t like that tell him to stick his job someplace.

Darling I was looking to find some letters and the package here when I arrived but there was nothing but I suppose they will be here in a few days.

Dearest, I miss you so much already.  I don’t know what I am going to do till I get to see you again but I guess I will just have to miss my sweet little wife for a while but I will be there with you again as soon as I can.

Darling I will get paid tomorrow, then I will send you some more money.  I am going to send your Mother some also.  She spent a lot getting every thing for when we were married besides all the work that she did for us, and all the bother I caused her before.

I am going to try and save some Dearest for us and somebody else, for we will have to have a lot then.  Don’t you think so Dearest?  Will it be allright the next time Darling about what we were talking about?  I told you that I would not ask you any more but you know how I feel and the way you feel so I guess it don’t matter, does it Dearest.

Mary Darling, when you answer Dad’s letter tell him that I am glad he feels the way he does and that I will be doing all I can to make you the happiest person in the world.  Tell him that I wish him the best of luck and I hope he soon gets home.  I am hoping to see him.  I know that he is a wonderful person for he could not have such a wonderful daughter like my Darling Wife if he wasn’t.  Could he Dearest?

Mary what is Jimmie doing since I left?  Did he look for me when he got home that night.  Did Charlie leave that night, Mary?  I looked for him on the train but he was no where in sight.  I bet your Aunt is awful lonesome since he is gone, don’t you Dopey?  But don’t tell her I said that, or she might break my neck then what would you do.  Tell her that I said Hello and I wish every body a very Happy New Year.

I will have to finish this now my Darling Sweet Wife but I will write a few more lines tomorrow.

Goodnight Dearest and pleasant dreams.
All My Love
your Lonely Loving Husband
Harry.
