Well-traveled Beatles quiz

October 11th, 2009 · 1 Comment

My mother, who lives in Charleston, South Carolina, sent me an envelope full of news clippings last week.  Among them was The Post and Courier‘s weekly trivia quiz.  This one was all about The Beatles.  She challenged me to answer them to her over the telephone while she was looking at the answers on her end of the line.  I obliged.  I guess it was a “test.”

Well, I got eight of the ten correct.  Am I a true Beatles fan, then, after all?  Certainly in my heart.  Definitely in my heart.

Here is the quiz.  See how many you can get correct without looking up anything, anywhere (I flubbed up #10 and teetered on #4).  Then post your score so you can point at me and laugh.  Or maybe I’ll do the pointing!  Here goes:

1. What was the first Beatles record?

2. On the album cover, who’s crossing Abbey Road first?

3. Where is Penny Lane located?

4. “But when I get home to you I find the things that you do will make me feel alright…”  Name the song.

5. The Beatles eponymous 1968 double album is better known by this name.

6. “There’s nothing you can do that can’t be done.  Nothing you can sing that can’t be sung…”  Name the song.

7. Who was the original drummer for the Beatles?

8. “Love you every day girl always on my mind.  One thing I can say girl, love you all the time.”  Name the song.

9. What was the working title of “Yesterday?”

10. What was the last song that was recorded by all four Beatles?

Good luck!
