Grammy Award for Best Disco Recording

May 4th, 2009 · No Comments

This is the entire entry on Wikipedia for “Grammy Award for Best Disco Recording:”

The Grammy Award for Best Disco Recording was presented at the Grammy Awards of 1980. The award went to Dino Fekaris, Freddie Perren (producers) & Gloria Gaynor for “I Will Survive”. The award was new for 1980, and was discontinued before the Grammy Awards of 1981 due to the backlash against disco.

Years reflect the year in which the Grammy Awards were presented, for works released in the previous year.

Why was I even looking at this?  Two – yes, TWO – disco songs came up on my iTunes in a row (Candi Staton’s “Young Hearts Run Free” and Evelyn Champagne King’s “Shame”) and I was curious to read what concensus there might be about what the “best” disco albums were.  Too, too funny.
